This Week in Beer: Lagers, Ales and Heat Quenchers
This week, beers with a variety of flavor profiles and alcohol percentages are trending. Fieldwork’s newest lager may be best suited for those long, unbearably hot summer days. On the other hand, Cellarmaker now offers a fruity Double IPA to wind down the evening. Or get it started? That’s entirely up to you.
North Bay
Crooked Goat Brewing – PB&J? Blackberries? If either of those sound appealing, you may want to head out to Sebastopol. The Nitro Bramble is a blackberry ale with a fruity aroma and finish. For those looking for something a little different, Crooked Goat has you covered. Be adventurous and try their PB&J. It’s a peanut butter and blackberry ale that may spark a couple childhood memories. Both beers contain 5 percent alcohol.
East Bay
Fieldwork Brewing – Is the mid-summer heat getting to you? Fieldwork Brewing now serves Lager Beer. It serves as the name, as well as the style of beer. It’s a lager that doesn’t need a fancy name to stand out. And at 4.3 percent alcohol, it seems like an obvious choice for those long summer days. This is a classic with subtle hoppy character and a crisp finish.
San Francisco
Cellarmaker Brewing – The Problem Sauvin Double IPA incites curiosity by name alone. Nelson Sauvin is a unique hop variety from New Zealand. It has strong fruit and white wine aromas. This beer is extra hoppy and has 8 percent alcohol. Hints of watermelon, passionfruit, mango and pineapple aromas are also noticeable. Now that’s a mouthful.
